Erected at the south entrance of the Community is a Monument dedicated to the hero of our community who fell in 1974, Panayiotis Katsidiaris. It is a monument made of local stone, while a brassy bust of the hero stands on the upper part of the monument. The Monument was created in the year 2000 by the Community Council and the Association of Friends of Fterikoudi. The Monument’s unveiling ceremony was held by the Minister of Defence at the time, Mr Koullis Mavronikolas and Archimandrite Gregorios Hadjiouraniou.
Panayiotis Katsidiaris was born in 1948. He was the son of a poor six-member rural family and he was engaged to a girl from Katokopia. His parents were Kyriakos and Eleni Katsidiari.
He graduated from the Technical School in 1966 and went on the work as an electrician with his brother Yiannakis Katsidiaris.
Upon the beginning of the Turkish invasion he enlisted and joined the 366 Infantry Battalion. He fell in battle on July 23rd 1974 at the Zeryphos Hotel in Karavas.
