Hero Monument

At the southern entrance of the village stands a monument dedicated to Panayiotis Katsidiaris, a hero of 1974.

Born in 1948, he came from a poor farming family and worked as an electrician. During the Turkish invasion, he enlisted in the 366 Infantry Battalion and was killed in action on July 23, 1974, near the “Zephyros” Hotel in Karavas.

Hideout of Grigoris Afxentiou

A hideout was established in the house of Aristotelis Agapiou, which still exists today. The hideout was discovered, and Afxentiou and his fighters escaped through the mountains toward Machairas. Agapiou was arrested by the British and imprisoned for nine months.
